I was the first President of the Second Continental Congress from 1775 to 1777. After the Declaration of Independence was adopted and the U.S was born, I became the first governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1780 to 1785. I was reelected again in 1787 and served until my death in 1793.
I attended Boston Latin school, after my graduation in 1750, I was accepted in Harvard College where I graduated in 1754.
I married Dorothy Quincy and had 2 Children, John George Washington Hancock and Lydia Henchman Hancock.
